The American People Need to Know How Harris and Trump Will Tackle Corporate Power

Washington, D.C. — Ahead of the first Presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and with the influence of corporate monopolies top of mind for voters across the country, Fight Corporate Monopolies released a new list of corporate power-related debate questions that the American people deserve the answer to.

“Ahead of a consequential election in November, the American people deserve to hear where each candidate stands on tackling corporate power and unrigging the economic playing field,” said Jimmy Wyderko, Spokesperson for Fight Corporate Monopolies. “Voters are tired of corporate monopolies and Wall Street driving up housing, food, and healthcare prices while squeezing out small businesses across Main Street. Whether through supporting a ban on noncompete agreements, addressing price gouging, or promoting robust antitrust enforcement, the candidates must present a vision for governing with real solutions for addressing big corporations’ influence over pocketbooks and lives. These questions will help guide that conversation.”

New polling released late last month reveals that an overwhelmingly majority of Americans are concerned with big business’ power and influence over the economy. Fight Corporate Monopolies’ draft debate questions provides a brief list of issues and policies that debate moderators should probe the candidates on. These issues include:

  • Lowering costs for working families;
  • Supporting workers trapped in restrictive noncompete agreements;
  • Enforcing antitrust laws against dominant tech companies;
  • Promoting accessible and affordable healthcare;
  • Igniting small business dynamism and entrepreneurship;
  • Addressing corporate ownership in housing.
