New FCM Memo Reveals How Harris Campaign & Democrats Can Champion Biden-Harris Enforcers’ Wins to Lower Costs

Washington, D.C. — Ahead of key upcoming speeches and the 2024 Democratic National Convention—where Vice President Harris is expected to unveil her economic agenda for her Presidential campaign—Fight Corporate Monopolies today released a new memo detailing how the campaign can highlight Biden-Harris antitrust enforcers’ wins in lowering costs for consumers across essential sectors like gas, groceries, housing, healthcare, and more.

“With prices top of mind for families across the country, Vice President Harris and other Democrats on the campaign trail have an easy opportunity to highlight how the Biden-Harris competition enforcement agenda is lowering costs for essential goods,” said Nidhi Hegde from Fight Corporate Monopolies. “From bringing down gas prices by taking on Big Oil price-fixing to capping the cost of inhalers, the Biden-Harris economic agenda is already delivering concrete wins directly to Americans’ pocketbooks and supporting small business growth. VP Harris should build on this strong foundation and commit to aggressively hold corporate abusers accountable on behalf of working families and honest businesses.”

“Make no mistake: robust competition policy is a popular, pro-business, and pro-working family agenda,” added Hegde, and that’s exactly why monopolists and billionaires are trying so hard to stop it.”

The Biden-Harris Administration’s competition approach has focused on enforcing existing antitrust laws to combat corporate consolidation and anti-competitive behavior. Fight Corporate Monopolies’ memo highlights that by targeting key sectors where consumers have been hit hardest — such as energy, food, housing, and healthcare — these efforts have resulted in lower prices and more competitive markets. For example, the FTC’s investigation into gas price collusion, the blocking of major grocery mergers, and actions to reduce junk fees are just a few examples of how antitrust enforcement is saving American families money and making the economy fairer for consumers, businesses of all sizes, and workers.
